Rover Mini Cooper - 1275cc A-series engine, 1.75" SU HIF carburettor, last of the proper new generation Mini Coopers - how could I resist that for fifty quid ! no MoT, a stuck handbrake, plenty of tin-worm - but hey, it was a Mini in the family again !
It's been quite a while now since we sold the last Mini in the family (old website here) so a return was more than welcome - we all loved them. The younger members of the family especially welcomed the cute little thing to our home, ironic as it was their arrival that saw off all of the previous Mini's !
It took me about a month of fiddling with bits and pieces, mostly the welding was time consuming, and around thirty pounds of new parts (rear brake pistons, shoes and front ball joints plus CV gaiter on one side) to get her MoT ready. Here are some pictures of her looking fairly decent -
She got the MoT after a few simple tweaks on the day, including borrowing the Land Rover horn as the note on the existing one wasn't to the testers liking - he was right too as it packed up two weeks later ! it's since been replaced with a reclaimed one. Here is a picture of the sort of work still left to tidy her up.
